C63 AMG...running in!?

Yes they are hand built that means they are put together by a human being
and not built by a robot nas pas

Can't argue with that!! Economy cars don't make good reading do they! LOL!!!

OK. Never believed they were really hand built - or are they just hand assembled?

No, the reason I ask is that my Saab convertible was hand assembled in Austria at Magna Steyr from a kit of components. That's not the same as being hand made. Hand made includes making all the bits that go into it by hand also....

By the way this isn't anti-AMG, I'm just curious...

There should be a clear sticker in your windscreen with very small print on it. Mine was in the top right hand corner and it has the running-in instructions.

anoyingly my sticker was absent!!! it only had the mercedes breakdown sticker:eek:! did get the bottle of Mobil1 though.

Envy? Of course.

There's nothing wrong with envy. Envy means you have something I'd like to have...but I don't begrudge the fact you have one...health to enjoy etc.

Jealousy is bad. Jealousy means you have something I SHOULD have, why do you deserve it, I deserve it more than you ...you B******.

There's no envy at all in this thread, its all a matter of perspective

When Dieselman was talking about BMEP (Brake Mean Effective Pressure) figures, he was basically trying to point out how relatively unstressed the 6.2L AMG lump really is. Its a tribute to Mercedes, and they are renouned for building big un-stressed engines that last forever, its what they do best. I hate to say it, but the 6.2L engine is NOT a feat of engineering by any means, something BMW gets alot of praise for because of how far they push the envelope with their engines (managed 340bhp out of a 3.2L engine), but again they sacrifice reliability.

Anyway, besides the point, running in your car will be no different to running any other car in, just be conscious and aware of what you do and how u do it, and all will be well!

I've heard the these 63 engines start to consume more oil than the norm if driven very hard in their first 1k miles, so take it easy, but not too easy! make sure it gets a variation

P.S. My polo has a bmep of 21.54!!! Thats one stressed out engine! I'm a bit worried now :o

As you rightly said they sacrifice reliability and your forgot to mention how sh*t their engines sound compared to mercedes, even their V8's don't sound like a proper V8...

btw The V8 in the e92 m3's is no feat of engineering!

Best V8 sound I've heard lately was at a Corvette meet in June! WOW! Some of the old Stingrays from the early/mid 60s were awesome!!

Thanks for the advice, that is kind of how i've approached it, the only difficulty is judging the "easy but not too easy" bit. whilst dealing rush hour traffic, school runs etc. maybe I need to take an all night drive on some quiet roads to get it over 1,500m

In fact - Good Plan - i'l do tonight :D

You're probably right...i've had my fare share of MB Assist experiences. Mostly in Diesels though :D It seems more the more you pay for a car the more likely it is to break down!!

It's to give "paupers" the last laugh.

I could get myself banned with a suitable response to all the AMG/ C63 haters...

they are not as bad as some of you make out:rolleyes: , a few of us like them:D

Has anyone ever said they hate C63s or any other AMG come to that??

I think some paranoia is creeping in here.... :D

yep they are back

we could do with a symbol of someone shaking coffee granules:D

See post #58 :D
