C63/C63s second hand values WBAC/motorway

I had a 2018 C63 coupe, it had only covered 7000 miles. In February 22 it was valued at 52k by WBAC, I had bought it from Mercedes Edinburgh in March 21 for 46k……..I do regret not selling to WBAC and pocketing the profit🤑 I eventually sold it about 4 months ago and got what I paid for it.

Personally private sale
WBAC are part of BCA so its basically an aution estimate

I'll give you £28k for it.

Am I doing this right? :p
I like your style 😎

Only people’s opinions but a few motoring articles I read over Xmas say although the used car market is expected to be buoyant in 2023, used car prices are expected to drop 10-20%

As demand slows due to the economy and supply increases due to recovering supply chains then used car prices will find a new normal.

Given enough time you would reasonably expect used car prices to drop by more than the artificial increase in values over the last year or so.

We might expect a further drop to where values would have been had they been depreciating throughout that whole period of time.

However the rate of inflation, growth of EV sales and the time take taken for supply chains to fully recover could mean that never happens.

WBAC and MOTORWAY etc jusy value it as a car doesn't matter if it has no options or full spec price is the same you would be hard pushed to buy any vehical at there pricing
I recently sold a SLC300, 5 years old with only 10,500 miles but, with £11,000 worth of options over list price. Looked as if it had just left the factory, but Motorway and the rest valued it just the same as any poverty spec model. I scoured Autotrader and even Mercedes own site and could not find any cars that even came close. Eventually found a dealer that appreciated how high the spec was and he offered £3000 more than motorway were offering. A week later he sold it for £5000 more than he gave me.

I know the feeling. I sold the CLS350 through Carwow, accepting their suggested reserve, and it was bought by a local dealer for that reserve. It was on their website that evening, at a 45% mark-up, and three days later it was sold.

Im not sure how much in value my c63 spec cost but ive not seen another with the same spec mileage etc hence its staying I couldn't get poverty spec cat N for there valuations 🙂

It’s all about timing and a degree of luck. If I had sold my W205 C63 6 months earlier than I did I would have got 52k for it from WBAC. Roll on 6 months and I sold it to Motorpoint for 46k, prices must have still been dropping because they advertised it a few weeks later at 47k, so not much in it for them.

Do people feel that all options increase the value of a car. 🤷‍♂️ I will be selling my A5 Sline, black edition for my C63 purchase. I expect the fact it’s a Sline and black edition to increase its value but although it’s fully loaded with extras I don’t feel these will increase its value. I believe it makes it more desirable than the equivalent model without the extras but worth more, I’m not so sure. In comparison to the C63’s I’m looking at, when I say extras I refer to options that have buttons on the dash located on the right hand side of the steering wheel

Generally the trade won’t recognise optional extras when buying, but then list them all when selling. Insurance companies don’t generally recognise them either, unless there’s a “back to invoice” element to the policy.

Ultimately it’s very difficult to work out how much of the transaction price is down to options, I would say impossible. But as you suggest a car with lots of options might make a car easier to sell than one without, with all other things being equal.

How many optional extras did you specify on your Audi S Line Black Edition? I found that there wasn’t much left to add to a Black Edition because S Line bundled together a load of options, and then Black Edition bundled sone more.

The manufacturers do this to reduce the monthly finance costs, which is important in the UK market. Options are paid in full over the term of the finance agreement so including them in the list price reduces the monthly payments.

Because of the bundled options being standard there were only very expensive - and therefore unpopular - options left. The number of cars specified with those must be tiny, even when purchased or financed as a company car.

I think you might get a bit of goodwill if you were chopping your A5 for another Audi at the same dealer, but outside of that I think in general you have two hopes of getting more money for a given car and Bob is dead :D In fact, I say that but I explored various options when I got rid of my A5 Black Edition (highly specced like yours, B&O, TV etc), even opting to buy a nearly new A6 Avant (as I did at the time) had very little sway with Sytner.

Interesting chat this.
One thing I’ve noticed is that mileage doesn’t really seem to matter as much as it used to. There is sometimes not much difference in AutoTrader prices between similar spec w205 C63s with 15k miles and others with 35k miles (say).
The whole second hand car market has not been functioning efficiently/properly in recent times but anecdotally I hear things are starting to improve.
I bought my C63 saloon (fairly well loaded) in Feb 19 for £38k and only a few months ago (over 3 years and 30k miles later) WBAC were offering me £36k. But to buy a replacement with very similar spec would cost me over £45k. Weird.

A great bundle of extras there 😁 ( I’m new to the C63 fan club so not exactly sure if any are standard options or all add ons)
My question is though, do those options add value or just desirable? If I was looking at two similar cars (model and price etc) I would certainly pick the car that’s got the most, if that’s all it came down to.

It will affect price and desirability same as the performance exhaust over the sports exhaust its all relative ,everyone wants the most for the money personally if your new to the c63 imo do not buy 1 without the performance exhaust 😀

Standard is usually just 1 button for parking sensors im not 100% sure though also the boot opening with your foot is a great party piece I love it (simple things please simple minds)🤣
