C63/C63s second hand values WBAC/motorway

A great bundle of extras there 😁 ( I’m new to the C63 fan club so not exactly sure if any are standard options or all add ons)
My question is though, do those options add value or just desirable? If I was looking at two similar cars (model and price etc) I would certainly pick the car that’s got the most, if that’s all it came down to.
The options add a little value but not a significant £.

Standard is usually just 1 button for parking sensors im not 100% sure though also the boot opening with your foot is a great party piece I love it (simple things please simple minds)🤣
I thought that was a standard feature on these cars - I use that all the time, very very handy.

When I was selling new and used cars....admittedly this was just after the earth cooled (87 to about 2002!).....we never gave that much more for loaded cars than we did stock one. Sure we would give money for the desirable ones....like AC and power steering (mostly options back then!) and leather as it was quite rare on Audi and VW models of the time........ but not much on anything else. Generally it was considered that cars with a lot of options would sell that bit faster....but not for lots more money. PCP charges are based on the stock car so factory option cost are pretty much written off through the contract via your higher monthly payments....so that shows how much value finance companies place on extras!! Personally I think that when buying a new car the extras are bought because you want them and you think it will add to your enjoyment of the car....not in the hope it will make your car much more valuable come sale time. YMMV!

Interesting chat this.
One thing I’ve noticed is that mileage doesn’t really seem to matter as much as it used to. There is sometimes not much difference in AutoTrader prices between similar spec w205 C63s with 15k miles and others with 35k miles (say).
The whole second hand car market has not been functioning efficiently/properly in recent times but anecdotally I hear things are starting to improve.
I bought my C63 saloon (fairly well loaded) in Feb 19 for £38k and only a few months ago (over 3 years and 30k miles later) WBAC were offering me £36k. But to buy a replacement with very similar spec would cost me over £45k. Weird.
Seems like there are a lot of 'standard' C63's for sale at the moment. Just for curiosity, I have an auto AT search saved for 'S' cars and more often than not, the cars that come through are cookie cutter non-S 63's, with similar wheels, colours and options. Prices and mileages are all over the place too.

That will be because they were popular cars to buy on finance. Options on expensive on finance cars.

Some people prefer not have such a large amount of weight so high up. Others don’t mind. Tyre will be lovers and haters of both.

This where this site fails a bit.....not being able to correct posts for more than few minutes....all the other sites I'm on have no time limits.

You mean people are falsely advertising/selling C63 cars as C63S cars?
That’s definitely one to watch out for if so but I might be misunderstanding you.

There is too many fake S models out there I can't understand why people do it

Because dealers haven't got a clue what's what. Never known a group of salespersons to know less about the product they're selling.

That’s not actually what I was saying, but I guess it’s not impossible?

I totally agree, I had 3 cars in the frame when I was buying mine. Two of them at main dealers and one indie garage - both dealer sales people were useless, I knew more about the cars than they did. Needless to say the indie got my business (and would again).

Interesting thread. I’m just about to list my S205 C63. Based on AT values, the market for these has not changed drastically over the last 12 months. I think it dipped a little 6-months ago, but I’ve got a feeling the arrival of the new C63 has helped V8 prices.

Will be gutted to see it go.

Autotrader makes its money from advertising cars, not from selling them. So AT quoted prices are excessive or "imaginative." And they're the prices you see most of the time. They're certainly not market price.

When sellers get realistic and deals are done, then the advert disappears, so you don't see that, more accurate, price for very long.

Motorway and WBAC, to their dubious credit, are suggesting an actual price but, by definition, that includes a dealer margin which needs to be several thousand on ordinary cars and more on AMG's. You've got to give him his profit margin, commission, preparation costs, fettling cost, and cost of warranty.

Useful tip is to look at the URL on Autotrader which will show when the car was originally listed for sale. Doesn't tell you everything (what's happened to price etc etc), but it's useful info.

The old problem with AMG's and M Series is that the first owners can afford them. These are company cars and the fuel / insurance / tax is insignificant. Bump them five or ten years down the line, and buyers still admire them but suck their teeth at the mpg, road tax and insurance cost. This is what does for their value, not the maintenance costs.

Similarly, eBay listings show "Revisions" to the ad, which can sometimes be useful
