Guys

I know that the newer 55 engines are known to have some problems.

Do the C63's have anything to worry about?

Run for the hills ShaunB

Merc - known body problems pre 03
Merc - known engine problems post 07
Merc - built to last not!!!!!
Merc will not be on my list of must own V8, rather must avoid

Holy god - dodgy head bolts. I think I've got to seriously reconsider what I was planning

Hi Shaun that problem occurred in a very little percentage of engines , mine is 82k and supercharged too and still goes strong , don't let that little problems put you off of buying one coz that girls make you a huge grin in your face !:D

Your CLK55 must be a disappointment to you then?

I have the E55 Kompressor and its the best car I have ever owned. The 6.2 V8 the OP was inquiring about is a fantastic engine with only one owner on either UK forum reporting a problem with it to my knowledge.

If you take the time to read the link I posted above you will see that measures are in place to rectify any possible problem with pre facelift 6.2 engines up to a certain number.
As for your other comments, well apre 03 model isn't what the OP is looking for. Your second point is covered and I would disagree with your third and 4th points too. Well done on putting off a potential C63 owner:doh:

I didn't say my CLK55 has been a disappointment

I can only assume Merc are smiling at the sales of spare parts

Calm down, calm down :D

I will just tread carefully.
I've seen a nice 2010 car locally you see.

Is 2010 pre facelift year? If it comes with Tier 1 MB warranty you can rest easy. Otherwise, get one:D

If you can get the Vin# the engine number should be easy to find from the datacard.

Ownership 14 months (early model).....no issues

What year?

Yeah, I think it is pre facelift.
Do you know if there are many differences?

Cant add anything about the engine other than its bloody fab.Five weeks in and not even moaning about the odd rattle. Treated it to some new boots today and thats made a huge difference to the road noise. Love it, best car yet and thats saying something for me as I've always driven suv's so a complete turn of direction.

So there are probably not many(if any) differences between the 08/09/10 cars then?

Prefacelift had bigger wing mirrors, the rear lights were different as they indent inwards, and had different headlights, with "eyebrows".

Lots of parts from pre-facelift won't fit facelift and vice versa including headlights, front bumper, bonnet, etc. Although the rear lights and wing mirrors are interchangeable.
