C63 + MCT advice

Good luck with your thoughts there. In many ways the deliberation is just as much fun as driving your final choice!! Enjoy.

Hmm.. New SLK55, worlds most fuel efficient V8 apparently, 33mpg on the combined cycle. Gives away 30-odd bhp and 42lb/ft Compared to the 6.3. A fuel efficient (ish) AMG, I could live with that in a C class AMG coupe 'lite', if it made the right noise.. :)

I once saw 25.2 mob during the 50 mph specs zone of the m25. Went straight back down as soon as it finished. Averaged 20mpg over 8k miles so far.

It's the constant filling rather than the price that annoys me! Tank far too small....should have been a 100l one.

Wow this is a blast from the past. After much effort I managed to attain 6mpg at Goodwood - I was very pleased with myself!

What is the C63 tank size?

My old a$$ 55 CLK will barely do that cruising at 70/80.

Sorry to say you stand no chance, my friend has a C63 saloon and that guzzles fuel compared to my car, 20mpg on a run is the norm which isn't helped by the urge to mash the throttle.

Hi Everyone,

I've been lusting after a C63 coupe ever since it was announced and as i happened to find myself sat in one at the brooklands track the other day - that experience did nothing to change my mind. I've had a look at some deals around and am really considering it as it seems to be a lot more affordable than i would have thought. The only thing holding me back is fuel costs.

My question is if the new MCT transmission fitted to the coupe (and as i understand it "2012" models of the saloon and estate) is offering any improvement on MPG. Most of the stories and long-term reports i've read refer to the older 7G-tronic gearbox.

The bulk of my mileage is made up of a trip down the A1, M25 and M3 and back usually timed to avoid most of the traffic - andto make this work i'd be looking to achieve at least high 20s on a good clear run. I'm used to getting 28-30ish in my diesel 4x4 so assuming i have to run a C63 on super? i'm thinking the fuel costs could actually be similar.

so that was a load of waffle - but in reality my question is - can anyone confirm if a C63 coupe could achieve 27mpg+ on a good clear 100 mile run? I know MPG isn't the kind of thing i should be considering with such a purchase - but i'd prefer it didn't cost ME money to drive to meetings :)

My SL63 with MCT on a trip from York to Brighton averaged bang on 27 mpg (which included the wretched M25 car park on a Friday afternoon)

I wouldn't want to rely on that on a daily basis though.

Simple fact is if your worrying about fuel don't buy the car! haha, In May I will be going to Austria and back in mine and the fuel bill will be stupid after going down the autobahn, through the Austria tunnels and the 10 days in Worthersee for the biggest car event in the world but who cares I will enjoy every minute

I agree. That's the annoying part, not the cost. London - Munich - 3 or 4 stops depending on the driving style.

Are you kidding me?!?! 3-4!!!!

It's only just over 700miles or something like that.
