A few more jottings

I had it "Stargarded" on delivery for £300

"A" service carried out in April 2010 - i provided the Oil , negligible brake pad wear noted - they didnt record the pad wear ( i m sure this will be apparent at the next service following two track days)
cost of service A - £170 plus Oil

Steering geometry checked/adjusted £60 just as a precaution

Road Tax £950 year 1 £425 year 2
Insurance via Mercedes Daimler £592 two named drivers both over 50

replacement lower front grille £20 ( labour was FOC :thumb:MB Maidstone :thumb:) details on a previous thread (branch pulled out in front of me )

next service is due in approx 3000mls say October/November 2011

Ive got squeaky mirror syndrome and my drivers seat is showing slight signs of wear - both not uncommon i believe

initial thoughts :D
and after 12 months :D

Mika, does the starguard do anything? Is it worth the GBP300?

Thank you.

Hi Michele
I think its ok but compared to what some the guys on here have used in terms of detailing i wouldnt do it again
There are probably better options albeit for more money

The stargard kit costs the dealer about £20 and they get a valeting oik to apply it, then charge you £300...

I've had mine for 7 months, 13 days and about 2 hours all filled with :D and . The best car indulgence I have ever made by far...

I don't think of the costs as for me the pleasure outweighs it all.

Mika, Simon_M, thank you. The dealer was telling me it is some sort of treatment MB applies at factory, which i thought was utter bullsh!t. Besides, I thought proper detailing would be much better anyway.

Hi ***

if i park up for the day, occasionally, can i have the curry?:;)

No, because after the curry you may fart and smell the car out, or worse, have a moment of dire needs and sully the car.

Leave the curries to THE MASTER:thumb::thumb:
.
@*** - endless curry and you WILL sound just like a '63 engine at full chat. You'd need to start fitting the back of your boxers with Odor Eaters.

The challenge has been sent....

And sod the odor eats, lighter up back and throw big smokey flames like a C63 burning rubber.

A2 service just carried out
brake fluid, air filter, transmission fluid, cost approx £600
(note first service £200 second service £350)

brakes having completed 37500 miles inc 4 track days
Pads fronts wear 60-70% rears wear 50%
Discs fronts wear 50% rears wear 50%

fuel consumption has improved
Oil consumption has reduced
michelins last extremely well especially on the rear axle
the brakes seem pretty durable
servicing isnt too dear for a performance car

two years and 37,500 miles have flown by

id like a larger fuel tank and at times a soft setting on the suspension,
apart from that its still a treat to drive

next service estimated to be at approx 50,000 miles
I would imagine these would be quite an attractive 3 or 4 year old used buy
fuel and rear tyres are the expensive items

It looks like it is definitely worth paying the extra for Michelins, the wear rate per mile is much less.

So, £6000 on fuel, £1,500 on tyres and £45 on oil for a C63.

A BMW 320 would cost you £2500 fuel, £800 on tyres and £30 on oil.

You have to ask yourself is A C63 really worth the extra £4215 a year in running costs? A whole £11.45 a day.

Having ordered on, you must think so.

If I applied the same sums to my C43 the yearly running costs would be 3 times the purchase price! Can't put a price on an AMG smile though

And those costs are @20k annual miles so, stating the obvious, the cost difference to a BMW320 would be under £6 a day for a more typical(?) 10k annual miles user.

Not so, because as annual mileage increases, cost per mile reduces, especially as most longer distance journeys are motorway, so easy on tyres, brakes and brakes.
