Calling on some expert help here please!
Pre-facelift PPP (code p30)
It seems a LSD is not standard
It has the updated brakes, steering wheel etc
Does it have the increased power?

Post-facelift pp+ (p31)
Still no LSD
But this does have the power increase?

Can anyone clarify the above please?

P30 Lsd was standard along with uprated suspension, no increased power.

P31 Lsd was a option, forged internals with increased power.

P30 -

"The performance pack gives you a set of ceramic front brakes, an AMG Performance steering wheel with leather and Alcantara, a limited-slip diff and Performance suspension. There aren’t any power upgrades, but – let’s be honest here – it didn’t really need any of those"

P31 -

"Mercedes-Benz is offering C 63 AMG customers a new factory-fitted enhancement kit for their cars called the Performance Package Plus. Both the sedan and the wagon can be fitted with the package.

The 6.3-litre (6208cc) V8 engine has been modified by fitting forged pistons adopted from the new SLS AMG, a lightweight crankshaft, new connecting rods and a new engine management system.

Power goes from 336kW (457hp) to an E 55 AMG-rivalling 358kW (487hp). Peak torque is 600Nm (443 lb-ft) at 5,000rpm. Cars like the new updated Porsche 911 Turbo and the Nissan GT-R, as well as the C-Class DTM also play in that power league. It will go from 0 - 100km/h in 4.4 seconds (4.5 seconds for the wagon), 0 - 200km/h in 13.9 seconds and top off at an electronically limited 250km/h.

Kit includes an AMG carbon fibre lip spoiler on the boot lid (for the sedan), a new AMG high-performance braking system and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather. The wheel's grip area is covered in strong but soft Alcantara. Black designo leather can be ticked off the options box for €2,856. It covers the upper section of the dashboard, the upper door trim and the armrest on the centre console.

Prices for the Performance Package Plus are €7,080.50 and €6,426."

Thanks.
To add to the confusion it looks like both p30 and p31 show on the data card as p30.
This one has p30 on the data card, but does NOT show the code for a LSD.
It says performance package plus and has the red calipers and expensive discs.
So I think it will have the extra power, just not the diff.

That sounds correct, good luck with your search.

The 204 never had ceramic discs.

The upgraded brakes on PP (pre facelift) are the same calipers painted red with Brembo fully floating 2 piece discs.

The upgraded brakes on PPP (facelift) are the same calipers painted red with one piece composite discs. All this means is the bell and spider are cast in aluminium and the rotor in steel. Even more expensive than the earlier 2 piece rotors yet arguably not as good.

All brake disc types are interchangeable across PP, PPP and standard. Only the Black Series got 390mm with a different caliper.

PP on pre facelift the LSD is standard but the PPP on facelift it was not and most people buying a C63 didn't seem to have the wisdom to spec it on top so it's relatively rare. However, a spec sheet is only half the story as a lot more have been fitted with a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing (ATB) differential aftermarket. A small number like mine have a Wavetrac which is very similar but marginally better.

To be honest I'm more interested in the power as I can add a diff (I know I can remap).
So this is a 2010 pre f/l PPP, so I think it has the extra power, but is there a way to tell from the data card?

Looks like a performance pack car not performance pack plus so no extra bhp as correctly advertised.

It's the one at mercland.
It drove without fault, felt great (although it was the first 63 I've driven)

That's a pre facelift, so unlikely to be a PPP car anyway; I'm told there were a few on the cusp of changeover.
Many say that the lowered suspension on the PP is somewhat firm on UK roads, and the diffs on them are servicable, whereas Quaifes and Wavetrac are fit and forget as I understand it.
In my honest opinion, for the difference in price between a pre facelift and facelift car, I'd spend the extra £2-3k and buy a good facelift, so you get the refreshed front end and significantly updated and nicer interior.
You can go PPP, but you can just as easily add the PP two piece discs to a standard car and have it mapped if you fancy more power and stopping power.
You won't have the uprated engine internals, but there are people on the UK C63 owners group who run superchargers on the standard blocks and are well over 700, they're strong engines!
To get a Quaife you're looking at £1350-£1500 fitted, and about another £100 for a Wavetrac - I've just had a Quaife added to mine, and well worth the investment imo, even for a road car.

Just ask for a pic of the manifold that will clear up whether it's PPP or PP.
My pre facelift PPP wagon had a diff but I can't remember what code it was as I've deleted the datacard.

The car is at Merc Land who are a major provider of sales adverts in that section of the site. The owners of the company are known here and I would assume the car would be exactly as described and worth the cost :thumb:

Thanks.

I fell for this one too; bought a registered 2010 (produced end 2009) C63 with Performance Pack P30 (red callipers alcantara wheel) I thought it had LSD; it did leave two marks on the road 'just' when I first tried, but after a few tries the results are mixed. Jacking up the car on one side in neutral I can freely spin the lifted wheel in both directions, so I'm assuming that's no LSD, or should I have put it in gear?

Lift the whole back end up so both wheels are off the ground and turn one, if the other turns the same way then it's LSD, if it turns the opposite way it's open.

Yes, but if they turn the opposite way it might still have a Quaife or Wavetrac which are Automatic Torque Biasing differentials and arguably just as good if not better as an LSD on the road.

i think the code for slip diff was 471

Ye it was, and it’s not on the list. The bit I don’t understand is if 471 is always on the list of theees an LSD present, or do the earlier cars which had an lsd included in the PP package just have the p30 code and not the 471 as well. I’m 100% mine hasn’t got one but just out of curiosity really. Got a Quaife lined up to go in.
