C63 Purchase

BMW 335i
Hi all,

I'm completely new to the Mercedes world, currently own a BMW 335i.

Looking to sell the 335i and purchase a C63.

I went to look at one yesterday but I was a bit sceptical on the next service due in May 2015 or 53k (car has 43k). The chap was telling me that you should only go on the millage not the data, which I don't believe (I'm sure it is which ever comes first?).

On the last 'A' service the car had the usual oil change etc and also spark plugs. Because of this he thinks the next one may only have to be the 'A' service?

Can anyone shine any light on this for me? Also does anybody know any recent service costs?

Thanks

Tom

Services alternate A, B, A, B, etc. ad infinitum, with a 1-year / 12,500 miles (whichever comes soonest) interval for AMG cars. As well as the base A or B service, other items are replaced based on number of years or miles covered since last replaced. You can get a good indication by playing with the Electronic Service Sheet, adjusting the date of registration to see what's due next, in a year's time, etc.

As for service costs, look on the main Mercedes-Benz website and follow the links to book a service to get more info.

It sounds like this C63 is coming up to a B service. Also you need to check whether the brakes need doing. They are expensive.

I'd talk to your local MB dealership and ask about servicing costs.

I have just spoke with Mercedes and the next service that is due is the standard B service at £450.

As for the brakes the seller told me he had them all changed 2000 miles ago but on inspection each disc had a substantial lip on the outer edge, more like what i would expect from older worn discs. Unless the discs come standard with a bit of a lip? Maybe you guys could help there?

He had a reciept from Eurocar parts for just the parts and tells me his company fitted them.

Has anybody had a full suite of discs and pads fitted before at MB and if so what was the price? (Should have asked on the phone i know!)

Cheers

Agree, if it's had an A service last, then it should be due a B service next.

The brakes on a standard C63 aren't that expensive for what they are (around £600) for discs and pads all round. It's the PP & PPP cars with the alloy hubs and red callipers that cost over £1000 more for the fronts.

MB do have service plans you can buy, I think it's around £45 a month for a used C63, although my last B service was only £280 at a MB main dealer, so it wouldn't be worth it in my case.

No lip on the standard discs, and there shouldn't be on 2000 mile old discs either, unless the previous owner was particularly heavy on them?

£450 for a B service seems like a good price, just be careful they don't try and jack it up with things you don't need done.

With this and the misinformation from the seller about the servicing - I'd walk away from this one since I'm not sure I'd trust the seller. There are plenty of others out there.

I agree, there are a few of them for sale, try some more, you may get a better deal elsewhere.

Thanks chaps. I need to have a little think, as it is a really good price as it is for a 2010 plate compared to what is out there. If it's going to require new discs and pads all round though then it may be a different story!

As long as you go into the deal with good information and your eyes open, what the seller says isn't important: the price is. If it still makes sense when you add in the cost of discs and pads all round, you'll know that you have a few 10k's of miles use without having to shell out on brakes. That's a better proposition than another car that you pay a premium for that then surprises you by needing brakes in a year's time.

Yes I see your point and that is my way of looking at it at the moment. Going to have an add up of costs and see if it is still as good a price!

Cheers
