Hi don't normally post on forums but looking for advice on a remap for my c63 w204 standard from factory. CLK63 black series remap 544bhp more aggressive throttle mapping also includes gearbox maps with the rev matching blip on downshifts. Quoted 0.8 seconds off the 0-60 speed and the 40-80 will be improved by over 1.9 seconds.
Any advice would be welcome.
Regards

You'll get more like 510hp after a simple remap.

You'd need long tube headers to make over 540hp.

Which companies are you considering for the remap?

Mine was done by Celtic Tuning for just £400 and the difference was immediately noticeable with a lot more power over the last 2krpm.

Talk to MSL in Birmingham and Speed Ministry at Mallory Park. They both do custom maps for your car using their dynos. They can probably get into your ECU via the OBD port which saves a lot of hassle and allows you to go back to the stock map if you ever need to.

As quoted above a standard re-map will get you around 520 bhp.

MSL / eurocharged /weistec would be the maps I would be looking at

DMS Automotive in Southampton. Will check the HP increase as they have sent me dyno printouts but not sure what they relate to.

DMS are a reputable company so if you are using then you will get a good map.
Maps that give headline figures are sometimes not the best as the power may only developed under a small rev range......it’s the area under the curve that’s important

DMS are good but they're also expensive, you can get very similar results for less.

You don't need an individual dyno tune for a stock car. Hundreds of C63 cars have been remapped so it's been refined over the years. An off the shelf flash will be fine for your car.

£950.00 for engine remap/gearbox remap and black series throttle mapping not sure if this is expensive? and I only live 20 minutes away so no travelling.

PCS Horndean (also close to you) updated my gearbox software with Mercedes' latest version for £50.

PCS use Celtic Tuning who came to their garage to do the remap for £400. Celtic Tuning can also travel to you. The map allows full throttle opening.

Therefore, in my view DMS is unnecessarily expensive.

Thanks for the info will give them a call.

I got a Wavetrac for £1,600 fitted at Regal Autosport in Southampton at the same time as getting my remap. That was a couple of days well spent.

Yeah, I got mine Eurocharged and a Quaife fitted for something like that.

What is a gearbox remap and what is a black series throttle map exactly?

£950?

PCS use Eco Vehicle Tuning, also in Horndean or near enough. Suggest asking Simon at Eco about your car as they couldn't put mine on his dyno and it was an ECU-out so took the whole day. I think it was £400.

Yep, same as what I had. I believe Eco Tuning use Celtic Tuning maps. It was with them the best part of a day but also had gearbox software updated. It was ECU out and £400 as noted earlier

The black series throttle map is basically just opening up the throttle bodies to 100%......the C63 was deliberately “detuned” to make it less powerful than E and S class withthe 63 engine.

Gearbox remap is a bit of an urban myth unless the TCU is physically removed and the solenoids adjusted to increase the hydraulic line pressure to the clutches......making it more aggressive. A software remap is only going to change the shifting times......I.e.only change at what rpm it will shift

I knew that about the throttle I just wondered why they’d named it that in particular, as well as the gearbox map as it’s all done in a broad term of ‘remap’ anyway

When I was at Eurochaged Watford (RIP), the chap mentioned that some of the Black series code was used / modified. Not unusual when there is already factory modded code out there, that can be used with modifications on lesser models.

As Lee C63 mentioned, the Gearbox map is a myth. Need the TCU removed and physically changed that way.
Weistec used to offer this service until they packaged it together with their transmission rebuild/upgrade deal.

DMS is good but price is too high for what's its worth. If your car does not have much mods in terms of manifold/headers, then no point getting a custom map.

I am still running Eurocharged V7 map even with full headers and valvetronic exhaust. Works fine for me.
