C63AMG + CL63AMG
i have a 2008 C63, Apart from being the most uncomfortable seats in the world. On them you have three buttons on the side which control how tight they are and also the lumbar support. On both driver and passenger seat these buttons are not working.
I have checked the fuses, which are fine.:bannana:
I took out the buttons and found out with a tester that there is no power getting to the buttons.
All the connections at the bottom of the seats are fine.:bannana:

sooooooo anybody have any advice?or may know what the problem is???

If there is no power at the switch (seat) and the fuses are ok, then there is possibly a plug under the seat that has come loose. Or, the cable has been broke somewhere between the fuse and the seat. Look for the obvious first.....the plug connection under the seat.

Hope this helps fella.......:thumb:

Just had another thought about this one. If both seats are not working, it really has to be the fuse or fuse connection. It would be very strange for both seats to be faulty simultaneously! Check the fuse box again, even change the fuse for a new one. Unless someone has cut the cable leading to the seats, then it’s got to be the main power sauce that is at fault.

I checked the fuses several times and also changed them just to be on the safe side. I cant see both cables one after the other or simultaneously being cut or damaged?
i can seem to find any info on the seats online, or even a diagram which may help:-(

Try this kidder. Remove the switch on the seat, remove the fuse from the board. Connect a length of cable to the ‘back side’ of the fuse (the side that is wired to the seats). Then, put your tester on the incoming wire on the switch (feed from the fuse). Connect the other side of your tester to the cable leading from the fuse board........there should be a ‘circuit’, this way you can illuminate the cable as a fault. If all else fails, take it to an electronics engineer. May cost but, at least it will be sorted.

i think i will have to give this a go when the is not p£%$££G it down.

Good idea!!

I take delivery of my new C63 on Saturday, and was wondering (apart from the faulty front seats), have you come across any other niggles?

Also, have you looked at the handbook that was supplied with the car, sometimes the fuse can protect a relay switch on another board. Could be a relay switch, as the electric seats use quite a bit of power! Just another thought.........:dk:

I had fuse problems with mine, despite checking all the fuses the diagram states relate to the seat motors, the dealer still found some 'other' fuse that had blown.

@simon_M, any idea where this fuse could be?i wouldn't be surprised if its something sooo simple yet made made difficult by all these fuses and relays.

@DCphoenix, your biggest niggle will be the will be the hole in your pocket fueling the car. Nothing comes to mind apart from this issue i have with the seats.
Just make sure you enjoy your car:-D

Hi mate,

I don't sorry. Fuse blew 3 times and they changed it every time. The third time was when I got frustrated and tried to find it myself, but to no avail.

Took the car to Mercedes specialist, they did there thing and couldnt find anything.
:-(

There will be a control module somewhere between the fuses and the seat switches.

They did a full diagnostics everything came up clear (they gave me the full printed report)and all the fuses were all good in the hood.

Unfortunately, technicians rely too much on laptops. Had four months of absolute stress and worry with Audi UK over an RS5. This is one of the reasons why I’m returning to the AMG series!! As I’m an engineer myself (Heating, Gas, Solar) it absolutely gets my blood boiling when they plug in the laptop and say: - “There’s nothing wrong mate!” Find an auto-electrician who has a good knowledge of Mercedes. Bet they find it straight away. Find someone ‘old school’ who will not rest until the problem is solved!...;)

That's the kind of process I had.

Seat packed up - "we have replaced the fuse"
Seat packed up - "we have replaced the fuse"
Seat packed up - "we have replaced the fuse and applied a fix"
Seat packed up - "there is a fix which we will apply and replace the fuse".
Me - "you have done that, find out what's blowing the fuse"
Them - "oh yeah there is a short in the seat loom"

FFS!

FINALLY GOOD TO FIND LIKE MINDED PEOPLE. Laptops drive me crazy!!!
I think I'm just going to spend a day, have a good look around, mess around and try and trace the problem up.
Im hands on myself when it comes to cars and regretted paying the Garage the other day for nothing.
Was thinking of sending it into Mercedes, but not until i feel there is no other option... :-(

i've tried everything, checked all the fuses. still no luck :-(

No I havnt, I would assume if there was a short it would have blown the fuse?

Fair point.
