Cam Sensor issue

C180 KOMPRESSOR
Hello everyone.

New to the forum and a newbie Merc owner - Mercedes - 2006 C180 Kompressor petrol saloon.

I've owend it for 6 weeks now and the EML came on a few weeks back so took it back to the dealership (not a Mercedes dealership just used cars) for them to look at.

They said it was a faulty cam sensor and replaced it. It came on again - they said there were two so they replaced that too.

The light came on again (after several cycles) so they had it all day to try to get to the bottom of it. They have scoped it, retested & cleared the EML and say it is giving them all the right readings and are at a loss as to why this keeps happening. It did have a new timing chain before I bought it and they say that all the indicators and setting are fine. They cannot replicate the reason/symptoms for the code (sorry don't have the codes - just their wording)

Can any one else shed any light (excuse the pun) on this particular issue?

They told me it was safe to drive as they know

Take it to a MB specialist with Star diagnostics and get it hooked up.

Maybe the chain has stretched .take to the garage and ask them to check the timing chain and top sprockets.
Had this on 05 c180 coupe . With the symptoms you describe.

I would get it on STAR. I do believe that Mercedes recommend that the CAM and Crank Sensor are replaced together.
