There is a good post somewhere with pictures but I can't find it.
It should be the same as a W203.

There will be a big torx 20 fixing behind the SRS badge and the rubber handle should split in two revealing another torx 20 fixing.

Undo these, then gently go around the edge of the door unclipping the the plastic clips.

You may need to remove the door pins also.

IIRC you can leave the door pins in place , do what Nibbo said with regards to undoing bolts and clips ( remember to remove the tweeter covers at the top too ) ..

Then you need to lift from the bottom , straight up initially keeping the door card flat to the door ( wiggle it left to right if you need to ) and then lift the bottom outwards and this unclips the top strip where it fits in alng the window rubber.

Hi Howard was going to fit my Pioneer ts-c170 3way passives 16.5cm woofers mounting depth 69mm then 10cm midrange 49mm depth, and finally the tweeter in tweeter space 22mm depth, and hide the passive crossover, i have had these speakers 6 yrs and never fitted them still in box so hoping they fit, if not i can get a new set of infinitys 1.7cs 3 way passive smaller mouting depths.............

Good luck fella !

Keep us posted !

The Pioneer TS-C170 are the perfect set of speakers for the CLK W208 as you can do a rather nice 3 way fit with them. They should fit just fine tbh just be sure to secure all the wiring and there is a autoleads adaptor kit but it doesnt include an adaptor for the slightly smaller speakers.

this thread i just what i was looking for too :)
as im in the process of looking to removing the door panels and replacing & re-wiring the existing speakers :)

You say they fit ,have you had a set Ts-c170, i have bought the spacer for the 16.5cm , didnt know i need one for the 10cm one, are you sure, have you fitted a 3 way in your doors.
It will run passive until i either fit my alpine pdx4.150 and my alpine pdx.2.100 or buy a new Audison LRX6.9 with as avtice x-over bult in, so for people that dont know each speaker gets its own amp as Audison LRX6.9 is a 6channel amp rated at 4x70rms +2x75 rms @ 4ohms or 4x120rms +2x140rms @ 2ohms...........
If they dont fit im looking at Infinitys 1.7cs all have shallow depth.

I didnt get time yesterday, wish i had now bloody raining here in manchester, i need a wider garage :(

all brill advice, many thanks.

just got the card off my 98 CLK 230K, not too tricky. couple of things i found out the hard way. the tweeter cover, there's a push-in clip at the left and top (on near side RHD car), but a down-ward facing plastic hook-type stay at the bottom. so it's best to ease out the top and left first, then up a little to finally take it off.

I removed the door card to adjust the window as it was shutting too high. you have to deop the windeo about 2/3 down before you can see the adjusters, on right and one left. they are a threaded bolt about 2-3 inches in length with a platic top on them. you adjust them by turning at the bottom of the bolt, it's not a typlical hex head but a normal socket (5mm i think) does fit. you dutn the bolt up to make the windonw stop going up as much.

the door card does feel like there's another screw near the opening handle, but it does need firm wriggling whilst pushing up, then it will probably smack you on the chin when it comes off....
