I need to find out which Mercedes this brake calliper bracket/saddle come from.

I believe it is either W201 or W124, i have tried to google both numbers on the calliper but have had no luck. I have also searched google images using various descriptions in english and german but with no luck. I also believe that the 4202 number cast into it is a partial part number after doing some research here,

I would appreciate any help or input on the subject.

Taking the slope of the ears I rather suspect that is from a 129. I may be wrong though.

as it's a 'slider' it will be off lighter and less powerful cars.

the more powerful 124s had 4 pot fixed calipers.

Can I ask why you need to know this?

Usually peeps need to know parts for Cars they have not the other way round?

Basically i'm trying to find out what parts were used on a brake upgrade that was available on Alpina models of the BMW E30.

The conversion used mercedes callipers and pads, custom discs with what was commonly thought to be a custom brake calliper bracket but further investigation has lead me to believe it is also a mercedes part.

Here is some info on the brake conversion.

www.e30.de - Fotostory

It says in the link above that the saddle is "maybe" 190E 2.3-16 and the pads are W124 300E-24.

Thanks for the link, that says its for a 300D and checking front brake discs dimensions for the 300D they are 284mm x 12mm non vented.

The Alpina discs are 296mm x 25mm vented.

That bracket in the ebay ad looks the same though!

Right--- the early 190-2.3-16v shares the same front floating calliper as the W124 300. petrol
So the brake pads are the same. The disc diameters are different 262mm for the 190 and 284 for the W124 petrol However the 300 -24V disc diameter is 295mm and irrc uses fixed calipers. ALL these discs are 22mm thick So taking your 295x25 mm dimensions I would venture that the BMW upgrade uses the larger diameter 300-24v vented discs clones with 190-16v/w124-300 petrol calipers? The discrepancy in disc diameter is probably due to accomodating the different saddle mounting points the swept area being roughly the same
