Can i drive my car without a thermostat?

I'm not sure about mercs, but when i was driving my first car (L red astra) i drove it without a thermostat for a good 4-5k miles in the summer. How you wonder? Easy. I used to put the heating on as hot as possible, point the blowers of the window (window open) and put it on full blast. If your that desperate, you'll do it, trust me

Back in the 70's I used to leave the fan off my cars to make them quieter, no real traffic problems then, but if there was just use the heater to take the temp down
