Can I get privacy glass fitted?

I'm thinking about getting the rear windows on my w204 replaced with privacy glass - nothing too drastic like limo-black, just smoked - as I don't think full on limo-black works on an iridium silver car.

What I want is proper privacy glass, not tints or films. Is this something I'd have to take into my Merc dealership to get done or can I get it done at an indy? Will it affect my warranty?

I'm currently based in the north west so any recommendations in this area?

Easy peasy matey just go to your local tinted and get it faded Pal, silver car blue ish tint and so on darker the colour shade darker tint, or if you go red, green, blue or whatever then whatever you do make it fit and tack full
Sorry if I babble on But off my ****

I'd say neither, that's a job for an automotive glass specialist. Will it affect your warranty? Only if you were to claim for something that it could be responsible for, like water ingress.

The replacement glass isn't likely to be cheap though.

But off my ****

Aye, sufficiently so that you missed the "no tints or films" statement. :fail

Mate, I would not bother getting new glass fitted. I used these guys and they were excellent. My friends were amazed at the job they did and two years later, it is still perfect.

I used Pentagon Glass-Tech who my local MB dealer uses.

Window film will give you proper protection against heat/sunlight as opposed to tinted windows which are just coloured glass.

With the quality of film today, I wouldn't hesitate to get the car tinted for one second. Just make sure that you pick a very good specialist.

With a tint you're always going to see the heating element and matrix border so I can see why you'd want a complete glass exchange.

With a skilled professional job, you shouldn't see the matrix border. I have tinted many cars and always "put up" with the light line around the border until I went to a different company who managed to get get it looking perfect!

It just means they have to spend more time on the details, rather than a quick rushed job :)

just had my cls tinted excellent job good price and a 10 year guarantee

Replacing the glass will be seriously expensive, and you're not going to have a choice of shades (like smoked) but only the colour which Mercedes use themselves. Not even Mercedes commission a glass manufacturer to make privacy glass in different shades.

As others have suggested, using the BEST tinted windows specialist you can find is your best bet, the cost will be measured in hundreds of pounds, and you'll be able to choose from a selection of shades. As a bonus, if you pick the wrong shade you can have in re-done!

Not if you smash one every year and do it on insurance :bannana:

Down side is that is takes about 7 years to do the whole car.

Where did you get it done?
