Apologies if this has already been discussed, but ive tried loading a DVD Movie into my 2003 W220 S320 CDI Nav system but nothing happens, i am a technical person but when it comes to cars i tend no to tinker untill i am told from someone else on how its done.

Any suggestions folks.

Many thanks in advance.

I don't know a massive amount about the 220 s-class, however I suspect if you have something resembling the first pic then you won't be able to play DVDs without installing a TV tuner or AV adapter and a separate DVD player and if you have something resembling the second pic then you should be able to play a DVD on it as it is.

How many different DVDs did you try? It might sound daft but I have a DVD player at home that refuses to play a DVD every now and then. The first time I noticed this was when someone tried to get it to play SWAT (I assumed my DVD player refused to play it on the grounds of taste ;) ).

just so im not being too stupid should the video auto appear on inserting the disc or do i have to press something etc?

I tried about 4 DVD's but nothing vaguely interesting happened.

An elderly couple came into my place to buy a DVD player, so I plugged it in and selected play, the same second the phone rang, and I had to go into the house. When I came back the couple had gone, the DVD was playing. Never again will I have those DVD's in the workshop :(:(:(:(:(:(

With any DVD you have to push play after the intro, is yours the one in the lower picture

Hi there Malcolm,

Yes mine is the widescreen version.

I only see an eject control on the unit but no play?

could it be my comand unit doesnt read dvd's? I assumed that all facelift widescreen units play dvd's

This may sound silly but I take it we are talking about whilst your stationary?

The COMAND manual shouls surely say whether it can play a DVD unless the unit is a retrofit?

Is this a factory fitted COMAND?

John

its a factory command unit.
