Sat Nav fails to work when my S211 is heavily laden

I am a location lighting person and I sometimes carry heavy equipment in my S211 E270 CDI.

When I carry nothing my sat nav works a treat but when the car is fully laden I get the message 'cannot read dvd'

I make a real effort to ensure there is nothing pressing against the DVD nav unit in the boot but it still throws up this problem and always when I really NEED my navigation.

I have also tried to eject and reinsert the nav dvd and it makes no difference.

I can only guess that something is pressing against a cable.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think I would start off by slackening off all the bolts that hold the dvd player into the frame , and also try to slacken off the cables that transfer the signals from the DVD player to the head unit. There is obviously something pulling on something somewhere. What is underneath the rear lift up flap apart from your spare tyre ( if you have one ) Is there anything untoward there ?
I also very often carry lots of stock in the back end, but nothing like this has happened ---yet !

Steve.

Hi.....i have no idea how to help. No doubt someone will be along shortly.
As an aside, is there anything magnetic in your equipment?. I know at times these can interfere with tech equipment.
Toolmans suggestion above sounds logical.
Try loading with something else to eliminate your equipment.

Thank you gentlemen.

Toolman, I had not considered that and loosening off bolts just a little is a good first step.

Woody, I had not considered a magnetic conflict but as I am loading the car with different articles I don’t think it will be this.

I will keep you updated

Thank you

Drew

Try loading all your stuff on one side, see if that makes a difference.

Hi Major 774 unfortunately I often need every inch of space. Worth considering though when I do not have a full load.
