can the intermittant rear wiper be slowed?

I ask because on mine the rear wiper comes on too rapidly so that it wipes the window when there isn't that much water on it and starts squeaking (the back window doesn't get as wet as the front, obviously).

Is there a timer somewhere?

yeh maybe that would help - C class estate yr 1999

Unless it is a monsoon downpoor the wiper comes on too often causing that anoying scraping noise.

This is a very nerdy thread I know!

i'd too be very interested in how easy it would be to slow it down. sometimes i want it to be on, but its too frequent so you know its going to premeturely wear the wiper if you leave it on.

Nerdy but true. Mine does the same. I keep having to turn in on and off again.....

I fitted a variable speed control intermittant control to the rear wiper on a Ford Capri about 30 years ago which only had a continuous rear wiper, but I was braver then (even though the car was brand-new) and car wiring was much simpler.

You can still get similar units, but wiring them into the wiring system of a modern Mercedes might be very difficult and I would guess would be messy with the existing intermittant wipe.
