As title really? Mine is feeling slightly sloppy and whist selecting P R N D, et al is fine, feels like there is a bit of slack in the shifter.

Thanks!

It's more than likely that the selector bushes are worn/broken, they're cheap to buy but can be fiddley to fit!

ah ha! Where are the bushes situated, in the selector box, or in the autobix itself?

Hi,

On the W201 etc there's a selector rod that is links the gearbox selector to the gearknob (external to the gearbox). There's a hard plastic/silicone type bush at each end where this rod is fitted - I'd imagine the W202 would be similar. Worth replacing the clips as well - they're only pennies to buy.

HTH,

Item 167 is the selector rod
14 is the bush itself (you'll need two)
176 is the retaining clip (again x2)

Less than £3 for all the parts off the top of my head!
