Hi guys. I made a rather large **** up when my sam failed by removing it and closing the boot (not realising the manual lock was siezed)
After some advice I was told to try and go through the back seats to access the boot. I've got a arm rest in the middle and should be able to get through that.
The problem is that I've taken all the 4 bolts off and removed the bottom of the rear seats. But the back part.. I can't get it out.
I've undone 2 bolts in the middle and two on the ends. The bottom lifts up completely but it's like the whole thing is stuck at the top near the headrest so it won't come off.
What am I doing wrong?

Are they split folding seats? If so the are clipped in and the handles ( in the boot) need pulling to release them. On my w202 I got to your stage and had to squeeze under the gap at the bottom of the seat to reach the handles and it hurt so good luck.

Not split folding unfortunately. I am going to try and get a jack to lift them up and squeeze under. I can see two bolts at the top where the seats possibly are screwed into the frame or parcel shelf but can't reach them.
If I can get in enough I can reconnect the sam and hopefully electronically open the boot.!

how much about split folding seats now?

Isn't the petrol tank between the back seats and the boot in the saloons ?

no worries guys, got underneath by levering the seats with a plank of wood and opened the boot. Need help with diagnosing the issue but will post in electrics section
