Can’t afford to keep up with my wife’s kerb addiction!

A bit more than a scrape too, the state of the tyre! 😳

At the end of the day it’s a car, if it’s her car then from that photo I’m assuming she probably isn’t bothered about the wheels so don’t bother refurbishing them (unless she asks you?), if it’s your car then it’s easier/less aggro to just buy her another car to use… :D

The reason my Mrs isn't allowed to drive mine !
Her car is in a similar mess to yours, but I wouldn't let her drive it with a tyre in that condition.
I'd get that changed pronto :thumb:

No cords showing, no need to change.

I must be very fortunate. Mrs Ant has never once kerbed an alloy on either the car or the van (yes she drives both).

I however…… 🙄
Just a thought Ant...........
Get Mrs Ant to do the morning quarry run.
No scuffed alloys.....☑️
An extra hour or so at home with tea and toast.....☑️
Result.

For you maybe, but I wouldn't be happy with my other half driving around on that tyre.
He will be replacing it again the next day if what he says in post 1 is true.

If cords aren’t showing it’s safe to use and will still pass an MOT, if it’s a high performance car doing silly speeds then it would be sensible to replace, but on a regular car being driven sensibly most likely just a waste of money.

But yes, it’s up to OP. Good that you mentioned it, but also important to mention that as long as it has no cords showing it’s still safe & legal to use.

In my defence I’ve not kerbed a wheel for yonks now. Doubt I’ll ever do it again. 😬
You’ve said it now.. awaiting refurbishment thread tomorrow. 😂

Buy some narrower wheels. Around half the width. Problem solved

To be fair it looks like the salt and rain had got under the lacquer a while before it was kerbed....so probably needed a refurb anyway.....

....and there is absolutely no safety risk with that tyre....just a bit of the rim protection (!) scuffed away.

It is just one of those things that I have become used too…. we have a nice V class that will park itself…. all four wheels and three prangs..
“oh, I am scared of using the self park incase it hits the curb””. really…

and 360 cameras too.. hey ho…
