car back from the bodyshop today 4 new doors + 2 front wings, job completed in 2 weeks & pleased with the result.

Is the new paint a perfect match to the old paint ?

When i had my boot lid replaced, the black seemed a lighter colour to me, It has darkened up over time though, most people wouldn't notice it now.
I've spotted a couple of small spots of rust on my 2 front wings - wheel arch and below indicator. I'm a bit put off submitting a warranty claim at the moment incase the colour match isn't right with my bonnet. I'm hoping my bonnet gets a bit of rust on, lol, so that can get done as well. Either that or consider asking them to respray the bonnet at my cost if need be.

I think i'll wait abit though and see it it gets any worse then decide what way to go.

yes the colour match is spot on can't fault it. (silver)
had some work done on a champagne w123 some years ago at the local dealers & it came back a perfect colour match.

HOPE mine is a perfect match (silver too)
still in the bodyshop, entering it's 4th week.
4 doors and something else which I didn't catch.. perhaps a bonnet.

Been a long time - initially they thought they could just repair the existing rust, then found out the rust was too extensive that they had to order some new doors and submit an addtional claim to MBUK for the extra work.

Then when I get it back, have to check if everything works on the doors, like central locking, electric seats, electric steering wheel, folding mirrors, speakers, interior light, electric windows, anti hijack...

Mine was repaired by a Mercedes approved body shop and was collected by my local dealer afterwards so they could reset all the electrics etc, they failed to notice that the doors were not hung properly  and I have just got the car back for the second time..The paintwork was perfect, :bannana: as were the repairs, the garage just failed on finishing the job with as much care as I would have expected, :( now I have a problem with the interior light switch on the drivers door so it will be going back again when I get the chance

Yeah, little things like connecting speakers on the wrong polarity (if it's possible to get wrong) pos to neg for example will affect the sound, making the sound stage slightly strange.

just had a thought there is another item in the doors... how do you know if the bodyshop has put back the door's airbags correctly? Presumably that would appear in the diagnostics and flag up a warning in the dash if not correctly connected? If there isn't you would be none the wiser

When my car was returned it had just come back from dealers who had to apparently reset the SRS light so i assume that is the airbags being re-jigged or whatever.

Also could you check if your new wing(s) have the MB logo stamped on them when you get your car back mine didn't (ever suspicious)

Dohh!!, I didn't notice any before... where is the location of these stamps?
I'm not sure if I'm getting a new wing or bonnet (I didn't catch the full conversation on the phone as my office was a bit noisy)

MB logo was stamped on the wings bolted flange just behind the headlights, thing is i cannot ckeck the exact location because the new warranty ones do not have the stamp. Maybe some other 210 owner with an original wing could take a photo of the stamp

Yes pleassse :)

Well my car is being delivered back to me on Friday,
I asked if they check the door functions as a matter of routine (having had 4 new doors) so I don't have to point out an error, and then have them collect it again.

They said they do check all the functions associated with the door and have reset the SRS light. So fingers crossed

*waits anxiously*

Well got the car back, and the silver colour match is very good, no perceived variances in colour. The gloss is slightly different though, slightly 'sticky' looking. A very slight ripple in the reflections but no orange peel. (this is being ultra critical)

They re-used the door rubbers as the rust stains are still there, otherwise the metal is pristine. (so they should be for 4 new doors!).

The arches are looking good too, and they for some reason sprayed the whole bonnet removing the stone chips along with it.

I checked all the associated functions with the doors and everything is hunkydory. Actually quite surprised that every thing IS working and the panel gaps are good, doors shut properly :bannana:

However I have noticed that my glove box now makes a 'farting' noise when opened :D , which seems to come from the damper. Could they have removed part of the dash to release the doors? There is still a small blister area under the bonnet hood, and the panel gap of the front bumper is uneven... or am I being picky? (see below)

But overall a good job

EDIT/ I noticed the drivers seat is slightly squeaky, do they remove the seats to remove the 4 doors??
