i am considering booking a cruise departing southampton and they offer free secure parking, has anyone used it or know if it is secure,i dont fancy coming home to find my wheels gone
I'll ask a few friends but i'm 99% sure it's dockside so they'd have to go through a couple of layers of security to gain access to cause any agro. BTW its Southampton not Portsmouth so you should be fine
I think Geoff Hoon, then defence secretary, memorably compared the port of Umm Qasr in Iraq during the invasion of 2003 to Southampton, prompting the memorable remark from a squaddie (or marine) fighting there, "There's no beer, no prostitutes and people are shooting at us. It's more like Portsmouth."
You just pull up at docks and a numpty takes your car to a multi storey car parts inside the docks.
The car should be safe as you have to go through security just to get inside the docks.
The car park is not open to the public.
There can be a long wait to get your car at the end of the cruise.
Make sure you keep your free parking voucher and show it before and after they park the car or they will charge you.

'21 C300 Coupe, '20 SLC Final Edition, Peugeot 208 (hers!) and a new Ford Kuga in Russia
When we sailed on the QM2, parking was free, a short walk from the terminal. Car was fine for the period, no problem!
Also, lots of P&O with free parking, again, no problems, although with P&O the car was driven to the car park after we dropped off the bags etc.
