Car Shampoo

ill be in the corner if you guys need me :(

I find, the best thing to do, especialy in warm weather is to wash the car in stages. If you try to wash the whole car at once, by the time you have got round the whole car, the side you started at has started to dry and the suds dry onto the paint leaving streaks no matter how much you rinse.

I always wash the topside of my car first. ie, the bonnet, roof and boot(and windows)then rinse. I then do the sides and front and back, rinsing inbetween. That way you never give the shampoo enough time to dry and streak. Works for me :)

Stu

Thank you , one and all. I will have to test the water. I had not thought of the water being to blame as I had no problem with previous cars - silver and red. I checked the Ioniser site - filter at £29.99 plus del would last 30 washes in a hard water area -ouch! Will - excuse my lack of knowledge but what is salt carry-over? Using rainwater is good idea given the amount of the stuff we get in Ireland.

Hi jimti
No i only just recieved the information following a advert in local rag. They do a very simple unit that fits in line. Talking to the guy that services our water softner he says they are are very good as they remove all minerals from the water. Hence no water marks

The only way to get rid of water marks is to dry your car after using the hose... I now use a microfibre cloth and not a chamois.

Actually, there is another way - you need to connect your jet wash to a water butt (spelling?) and use rainwater instead of tap water. Rainwater leaves no watermarks.
Will have to give that a try I've always used a chamios. :)
