Anyone else find they're looking in the wrong places for key controls when moving from one car to another? I spent a few days driving around in Mrs PXW's Lexus. Got back into my merc and stood for a second or two wondering why I couldn't open the door before remembering that I don't have keyless entry whereas her Lexus does. Got into the driver's seat, started up (after a brief prod at the dashboard for the non-existent starter button) and then cramped on the footbrake harder - on the Lexus, you press the foot parking brake again to release it.

It fools me going the other way too. Trying to turn the Lexus engine on with the dashboard dimmer switch:mad:

Years ago I used to drive a Volvo 164, with a handbrake on the right of the driver's seat. I also drove my father-in-law's fiat, with a conventional handbrake. And my dad's citroen GS, with a dashboard mounted handbrake. used to take me an age to drive off....

I'm OK on the basics, but we got stuck in traffic in Mrs BTB's Audi the other day and neither of us could figure out how to turn on traffic bulletins on the radio! No manual in the car either ...
