After looking at purchasing a car in the 2006 year I noticed a big price hike in that year.
Bought s CLK 3.5 55 plate £245 looked at 06 plates £475 both cars a 2006 year.

This would be applicable to other cars so be carefull if buying in that year.

This is because on 23/03/2006, the banding changes so any car in the maximum band after this date gets a royal stitch up.

If you buy a car registered before this, it should attract the lower amount as you say.
