Carjackers swipe biometric Merc, plus owner's finger

Considering the cost of hired labour in South East Asia it might as well have been the drivers finger. But obviously he was too well endowed with fiscal fortitude to afford that. Maybe next time he will be more reserved in his devices to avoid being less hands on.

Man thats f***ed up :( I would have thought that it would have been very obvious to MB that using Biometrics would cause this to happen, Given howmany owners have been car-jacked or broken into for ther car keys

The only safe way of using bio's for this sort of work is to couple it to a pulse reader so that only a living finger would work :(

It's not an oem security system.

I would have thought that the only thing MB offers is keyless-go at this time. .... for about $10 a day he could have had a driver and never needed to deal with this.

Hi,

I thought finger print readers and retinal scanners also used doppler scanning methods to check for blood flow. i.e. a severed finger/eye shouldn't be recognised cos no blood flow as 'dead' etc.

If this is true I hope the 'crooks' are well informed  !!!

Cheers,

Morphine cutting in........

Strange how things have gone full circle. In the old days a mechanic would try 'thumping' a car to get it started, now car theieves also 'thumbed' this car to get it started

Sorry about that, soon be bedtime,
John
