AHA!!! I caught a postie the other day doing exactly that! Had a small package (but just too large for the 'box) and he proceeded to write out his little card, without knocking. As he pushed it through the door I opened it - he jumped back like a scolded cat! I asked him why he didn't knock before posting the card and he just said he "didn't have time"!!!! WTF!!! Shall I report him??

Yes, its no different to anyone else not doing what they are paid for.
The Post Office is such a bloody shower because of this kind of carp,if you look at most of our public sector "jewels" you will find this kind of don't give a toss attitude.

Another retort to the little card through the door would be to take up the option of a re-delivery on another day , which costs you nothing .

If your postie got to know that putting a card through your door would just result in him being given the same parcel to bring back next day , the card would soon be the less attractive option - especially if you mention to his supervisor ' I was in but he didn't ring the bell ; please ask him to make sure he does so tomorrow as I WILL be in ' .

With any other company that fails to carry out a task that has been paid for - how often is the customer going to do the work for them ?

My postie hates his job, and would happily leave it if something else could be found.

Why is your postie taking valuable time out of his day to tell you how he feels about his job when he could be ringing doors and delivering parcels instead of filling out cards??!! Couldnt resist....
