Hi guys,

Having just had one cat replaced on my 2004 S350,sure enough the other one has now gone! Is it safe to continue driving for a few of hundred miles before replacing, or can this cause further damage?

Advice greatly appreciated.

It can cause damage as the broken ceramic particles can get dragged into the combustion chamber and cause premeture bore wear. Get it sorted asap.

Thanks, appreciate the advice. To be honest, I have already driven it maybe 100 miles with the "rattling", hopefully when Merc replace it, they would be able to tell if there is any other damage?

Also out of interest, I live in Germany (still on UK RHD) and to have the cat replaced from Merc cost me €800.(750GBP approx). Anyone got an idea of how much this would cost in the UK?
