Central locking on C180K Coupe

Hello all, good to be back on here, been out of the country for a while, anyway I digress.

Looking for a bit of help re the title - a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the keyfob to open the car was only working when I am very close to the door, I ordered new batteries for both keys, fitted them and still the same problem. I have to stand actually next to the drivers side door for the fob to work.

My questions are (if anyone can help); Is this a problem with the receiver as opposed to the keyfobs, and how much will it cost to get this fixed?

Make sure the end of the key is clean. it is an infra red transmitter. also try it from the other side of the car as one of the recievers may have failed

Thanks Al, it only works from the drivers side, and only when really up close. It's the same with both keys, which are both clean.
