Central locking on SLK R170

Just wondering if anyone has experienced a case of the central locking unlocking all the car but then only locking the passenger door, leaving the drivers door and boot unlocked.

I'm thinking weak vacuum pump or air leak?

Pretty sure the locking is electric not pneumatic? There is a valet setting for the locking/unlocking options, have you checked with your handbook?

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall all Mercs for a long time until around 2005 ish used vacuum. I can hear the pump and the buttons move in the classic sloooooooooowgone way.
