central locking problem

Hi iv recently bought a c220 sport and its been fine for a week but now i can only use the central locking when pointing the key about an inch away from my door!

Been reading up now and iv heard the cars are renound for these sort of problems.

Iv changed the batteries, iv checked fuses etc but still having a problem.

Please help

I had a similar problem to my CLS today .. Well a bit worse actually..
My keyless remote stopped working today - so I pulled the key out and tried to unlock it manually, however that failed too.
Now I am stuck and cant unlock the car. Does anyone know what I should do? Like any reccomendations of garage?
Based in South East London (Greenwich).

Check fuses relating to the alarm / central locking.

There is a long narrow aerial amplifier bonded to the inner side of the boot glass, to gain access remove boot trims, it's at the top of the boot lid, pop the back off and check for water ingress.
