A few of you might already know that you can programme the key fob to unlock just the drivers door on the first press & unlock the rest of the doors on the second press....''I didn't :o''

HOW TO

Press & hold the unlock & lock buttons on the key fob together for approx 5 seconds until you see the led flash twice, to cancel this feature repeat the above.

Personally i think this is a nice security feature if you drive on your own most times like i do!

Yes, I knew about that, however decided not to bother as the car locks automatically once you start moving (again you can configure this). If I lived somewhere more urban and 'dodgy' I probably would go with the 'only unlock one door option' though.

I remember my sister driving my Dad's W126 420SE S-Class through the centre of Birmingham on her own aged 19 or 20 (lucky girl to drive that car at that age!). My Dad always used to lock the doors in urban areas which involved reaching over your shoulder and pressing the little black 'button' on the driver's door - Mercs still have them - the little black 'stump'.

Anyway, she had done this and was driving with the doors locked, which was a good thing as three young men up to no good tried to get in when she was stopped at a red light. It shook her up a bit.

That really was a great car - the build quality on the W126 was awesome. The full leather interior was a lovely place to be. And it went pretty well despite the weight!

Is there any way of knowing the battery condition on the key fob apart from it not working?

Look at the red lens through the camera on your phone and you will see the IR Led flashing when you press the button.
