Having owned my C200 for just over a week I am looking to have it ceramic coated. My local detailing centre offered GYEON Evo Infinate. The process takes 3 days and is guaranteed for 5 years. What ceramic coating if any do other members use. Thanks in advance.

Gyeon coatings are great and I use Gyeon products on my cars. There are plenty of other similarly high performing products but Gyeon products consistently impress.

All our family cars have had nanolex coatings. Very glossy and durable.

I had Kamikaze applied by Ed from Divine Detail.....very glossy and long lasting.

I had Gtech eco and crystal serum applied, 4 years this month, car is still shiny and looking good, a good wash and dry then quick detailer to finish

I think people expect too much from ceramic coating (this is coming from someone who sells it for caravans!!).....tough as they are, ceramic coatings will NOT protect your car from scratches, swirl marks, and stone chips as some suggest.....to me its an expensive way to make your car a bit easier to clean.

Ceramic coatings also need to be maintained for longevity, so it’s not like you do it once and then forget it, which some people in the trade are happy for customers to fall into the trap of.

I've recently spent a good few hours removing my ceramic coating.

I had it applied when the car was new (October 2019) and, whilst being alright, I was never particularly enamoured with the finish. Yes, it was easier and quicker to clean, though the finish never really "popped". I'm used to keeping a car clean though never felt that it looked as good as it could do. I even ended up using a QD on it after cleaning it, just to give the finish a bit more depth. Also, as mentioned above, a ceramic coat doesn't really offer too much protection and I still ended up with a few noticeable scratches and swirly bits on various areas even though I have always been ultra careful.

I've now taken all the coating off with a *lot* of machine polishing, eventually followed by a couple of coats of hard wax (Collinite 476) and a light spray wax over that and the result is completely different and, in my view, a massive improvement. I appreciate it will need a bit more looking after but I have the time so am not too bothered by this.

I would suggest that a ceramic coating is ideal for the person who has less time to spare on maintenance washing but if you have a bit of spare time, stick with the tried and tested methods.

All personal opinions and no, I don't have any pictures as I always forget and the car's currently up in the air on the lift in a very cold garage. :D

I feel the same way to be honest.

The only time I've had a ceramic coating was a G-Technique product on a metallic Panther Black Ford, and I was never entirely happy with the finish. The metallic just didn't *pop* the way it should, and I removed it after about 9 months. After giving it a couple of passes of Poorboy's Black Hole and then topped off with Natty's black paste wax I was much happier. The green and purple flecks in the metallic that were kind of dull under the ceramic really sparkled again afterwards.

Ceramics definitely have their place, but I think for someone who actively enjoys cleaning and looking after their car's appearance, then the traditional LSPs are slightly more satisfying. For ease of maintenance though, obviously a ceramic wins hands down.

I recently applied Infinity was Synergy 2 to my car. granted it is a few years old (2015) and a few stone chips. But the coating is amazing. Water beads off the car. Dirt is easy to remove (usually with snow foam) and every so often I give the car a boost with Synergy Boost pressure lance spray.

I have G-Techniq crystal serum on mine, guaranteed for nine years with the caveat that you have to take it back for 'maintenance' every year. Absolutely no complaints, took them two dys to do a two stage polish in preparation and then apply the coating. Had the wheels, glass and interior done as well.

Ok so I finally got the car back from RPM detailing. The took 5 days to do the full ceramic and interior coating Including curing time. The car now looks fabulous 👌

That is a super finish on a super car. You’ve got to keep it looking like that now, that’s the hard part.
