Charge Pressure regulation 'permanaent fault'

Hi all.

I hope someone can help me
My 2005 C220 CDI has a fault code... Unfortunately I neglected to make a note of the number, but the description states 'charge pressure regulation - fault permanent'
Now, the car appears to drive absolutely fine, plenty of power..... But if I clear the fault it comes back up...
Can't think what it can be, has anyone come across this before....
