Having consulted with the two who can make it, one replied he couldn't see the point so I have decided that it is time to call it a day on this idea. I'm not going to keep a friend dangling on a date and I am not going to book something this small in the hope that it expands.

Totally understandable Charles its a shame it couldn't happen. Maybe next time I know I'm in London I'll stick up a post and maybe a few of us could get together for an impromptu dinner somewhere

I think that's a good idea Ian. There are so many restaurants to choose from, it doesn't have to be Michelin either. A curry at the Brilliant etc etc.
