Cheap battery smart battery charger / maintainer

"One of our best, the G750UK, is designed to charge 6-volt and 12-volt batteries up to 30 am-hours" - from the description on Amazon. Our batteries are somewhat more tham 30AH! The Lidl one is cheaper and suitable for cars (when they have it on special buy), failing that CTEK is the "go to" brand, but rather more expensive. Other brands are. of course, available!

If you are using it to maintain a charged battery it should be fine.

But -does it auto-turn back on in the event of power failure?

I use an old optimate to maintain a little used car battery, it would take an age to charge a flat car battery but its maintenance program is the best and it has a desulphate mode for properly flat batteries. The accumate is the faster charging version for car batteries, some say better than CTEK but I've never used one.

I also have an old school fast charger, it would cook a battery if left on too long. Also have a Lidl charger now for normal usage.

Unfortunately my chepo Lidi charger does not remember the mode set when power is lost and restored. It simply goes back to the default on mode waiting for the user to select a charging mode!

Thats the big plus of using an optimate / accumate / ctek - you can be sure that battery you plugged in months ago is still being maintained.

Yes indeed - after my cheapo Lidi experience, I have purchased two CTEK chargers which I use for extended periods of charging.

Still use the cheapo Lidi charger mind you for short to overnight charging.

I also have two CTEK chargers which I use for extended periods, never had a problem with them in the last 7 years. I prefer to pay for a decent brand, rather than looking to save money. Mind you I have a Llidl rechargeable drill which is still performing faultlessly after 5 years!

I've kept my SL on a wall-mounted Accumate continuously since 2007 ... the battery was fitted in 2004 and is still going strong, so it seems to work OK :)

It failed to charge my 2x 150Ahr boat batteries from flat though, but is doing fine now I've brought them home.

Sorry, that's actually 2x 74Ahr batteries.

I've not used their chargers but I do have their GB150 jump box. That thing started my Ford F350 that has a 7.3 liter diesel with 340,000 miles and two very dead batteries when it was -4 degrees. I'm quite sold on their products.
