Cheap COMMAND

Hmm - would an MB dealer have sold a used COMAND unit in the first place?

I always assume these things are probably nicked - is there any security code etc on a COMAND unit?

There is no security code on any COMAND:eek:

If a dealer had sold a COMAND unit it wouldnt have been so cheap, it would be new plus it would have been a later model!

Is there no way at all that an MB dealer could tell if a COMAND unit had been stolen - no serial number that they would check etc?

So it's probably reasonable to assume that the one being offered in this case is stolen?

Dealers can check serial numbers with MB as all serial numbers are stored versus the car they were originally fitted to.

I would not suggest the one being sold is stolen. It could be from a written off car, it could be simply removed from a car prior to sale as it is possible to obtain more from a sale by selling the comand and car separately, or of course, it could be stolen. Thats not to say that it is stolen, just a possibility.

If you or anyone else is interested in it, then I suggest you ask the seller for a copy of the dealers invoice showing the comand on it at the price he/she claims it cost them! That should settle any concerns;)

It seems unlikely to me that an MB dealer would sell a used COMAND (as claimed in the listing).

Although it could be a terminology thing - I think 'MB dealer' means franchised main dealer. He could mean someone who deals in MB cars. I can't imagine why one would be removed prior to sale though - you'd have to replace it with something after all.
