Cheap, reliable runabout wanted

My brother is looking for a cheap and reliable runaround for £1000 or under. As he is not mechanically minded or share our interest in cars it will need to be a car that needs nothing really doing to it. He just wants to get in, turn the key and go. Anyone know of anything cheap and decent?

Hi Jim,

A friend of mine has just bought a new car and is selling his very late ('93/K) 190E 2.0 Automatic.

Very long MOT and tax (almost a year each), new tyres and brakes all round, decent stereo/handsfree fitted etc.

He was looking for slightly more than your budget (£1200-1300), but I'm sure he'd do a slightly better price for a quick sale and a decent home

For the money, these cars are just stupid value for money.

I had a 1992 as an interim runabout and now on a 1995 while finding a CL.

On a price/features comparison, nothing can touch it.

Just been speaking to friend , she is emigrating with work and needs shot of her car , it would be ok for your needs i reckon and is local too ( Hampton Court )

Its a 2001 PEUGEOT 206 HATCHBACK 1.4 LX 3dr Auto

She's looking for about £1200 but is open to offers , its got 108k miles on it , and is taxed until April , and MOT'd to November.

It's had a new cam belt recently , and has been well looked after.

Here is a piccy of the car ( from when she bought it ) . Apparently it is called ' Saffy '

Now Saffy sounds sweet but we have had a bad previous experience with a 206cc and vowed never to touch a pug again. Sorry-But thanks anyway Howard.
