Cheap SL300

The seller of the S500 that I was on the verge of buying wanted me "as a condition of sale" to let him use the car till the end of November....after I bought it! I thought he was joking but he was serious. Can you believe it. Said fine, let's defer the sale to the end of the month and I was told that he needed the money now. Needless to say, I walked. On all other areas, he ticked the right boxes for me as a seller but I was dumbfounded.

He did not see an issue! *laughing*

Not really - I spoke to David at d class and you're looking at circa £150/£175 per seat. The pads come out so it's "plug and play".

That said, I'd like to make this car a little "different" - the one problem I have is the market has collapsed in these since I bought it and I have so much £ in the car I may as well make it really nice, and at 140k miles it's never going to attract the "concours original" market anyway. Its a nice colour (gun metal grey ish) and I have the staggered Carlssons to go on so maybe two tone seats may look good and lighten it up bit inside?

Two tone...don't! There is something about the SL's that they don't take two-tone well. I think it is because the cabin is so small, and overall 'busy' with so many surfaces and textures (the dash is mismash of materials and panels) that it looks wierd.

A deep burgandy/claret colour would go amazingly well if you were do the same colour all over.

Still not sure what to do with the wheels - they've been at the refurbers for four months and I am struggling to get hold of him. I was just going to paint them silver, now wondering whether to do the centres in body colour.

There is a Maser Gransport convertible thing running around where I live that is dark grey like yours with a dark burgandy interior - it looks absolutely stunning.

That being said, any SL in any colour is always good
