Chemical Guys 'Black'

You are a very, very bad influence because you are now the direct cause of me wanting to buy more detailing products!!

Funny you should say that, I have been referred to as The Borg of the detailing world - Resistance is futile :D

Have a read of this excellent article on the Polished Bliss website:

What is the best paint sealant for dark metallic cars?

If you do decide to go down the Blackfire road then, along with Polished Bliss, Motorgeek is another large reseller of the product range (link in Post #11 of this thread). You can try using the discount code dw4u2 on the Motorgeek site for an extra 5% off everything at checkout. You'll thank me when you are doing those monthly waxings. Just picture it - Sunday morning, Barry White on the car stereo and you getting jiggy with a 7.4oz. tin of Midnight Sun. Definite stirrings in the trouser department, methinks

I'm just reiterating what's been said but price isn't always indicative of a products performance and the mark up on these things is incredible.

For example Dodo Juice Supernatural wax. It's lovely stuff and I recall when it was released it was highly rated (still is I'm sure). A friend of mine became a Dodo Juice reseller and let me have a tub for £40, cost price to him was £35 but RRP was £65! He had to sell it for full retail price specified by Dodo Juice as they wanted the product to be deemed as premium. The same applies with many brands.

A friend of mine sold a range of products from the same lab as who make Auto Finesse products. His products were almost £10 per item cheaper but the content were nigh on identical.

After nearly ten years on a large detailing forum and seeing products become fashionable it fuels my cynicism haha

For many people they could spend £100 on their entire detailing kit and get the look they want :)

Yes it very good imo

Cheers

Couple of questions then
does it hide light swirls etc, and is it easy to apply by hand, or just hard work.
Was speaking to someone who swears by bilt hamber cleanser polish

I have some as used to own a VW Lupo with a black roof. Haven't used it in a while but it's glaze so goes after a polish and before you apply protection.

Certainly left a nice finish, as you say it's full of fillers so covers imperfections. Don't recall it being especially hard work either.

I have some Chemical Guys Wet Mirror Finish which I had forgotten about but keep meaning to use on my E Class. Offers a similar effect to BlackHope :)

Ps - not used that polish you mention but the Bilt Hamber products I have tried have been very good.
