Have got our replacement middle and n/s chrome bumper sections but are not sure exactly how the bumper comes off. As you can imagine, the bolts are well and truly rusted on:mad:. Does the car need to be jacked up for example?

Anyone done this? Tips would be very welcome

Thanks in anticipation Guys

There are four bolts holding the bumper on, one under each light and the others in the spare wheel compartment, i dont see why they should be rusted as the nuts are inside the car... i did mine last week, a very satisfying job!

:oThe bumper chromes are for the front - sorry should have mentioned that

Where did you source your chrome from? I need to do mine on a 300SE, all sections (I have a feeling it may hurt!£££).

actually have done them all now since i changed to AMG bumpers... the front is only held on by four bolts too... you need to jack the car up and get underneath, then its fairly obvious where the bolts are..

i think in the 4 doors two of the bolts may be accessed through the engine bay..

removing all the chrome retainer bolts is a very tedious job and i had cut fingers galore... you should get all new nuts and bolts as the old ones will be rusted solid so have a good pair of molegrips or a dremel to hand..

Anyway, i got mine from MB... at about 80-100 per section, it can be expensive..

Keep and eye on ebay as new ones do keep popping up from time to time.. or Mercman in Southampton generally has a good supply - 023 8078 4444
