CLK 2.7 CDi - problems starting

Morning all,

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Just a bit of background, as I'm not sure how important it can be. A while back the car was losing power and the turbo wasn't really kicking in.

Was taken to a specialist and they replaced the EGR and turbo vacuum transducers and vacuum pipe. However... After taking the car from the garage (same day) and going over 40mph the engine was cutting off.

The car was taken back again and had the high pressure fuel pump replaced (injectors were checked and given the Ok).

Needless to say how irritated and dubious about their work I was and still am. All of the above was in Oct 2014.

Now - after turning ignition key the car starts for a couple of seconds and then engine cuts off. It takes a few tries to get the car starting and once it's running properly no issues.

Any suggestions? Should this issue have been spotted back in October?

Many thanks

IG

You cant fix whats not broken.

Take it back and get them to check the problem,
reminding them of the recent work they done.

Thanks. I may do that but was wondering what could be the cause and if it could be related or not to the previous works.

I expect it will be the seals on the clear fuel pipes in the engine bay. very common problem.

The new pumps come with new seal seals,
the last one i did just before Xmas did unless MB are sending them out to me that way
as I usually order a full set of new pipes as well.

:)

Thanks guys :)

In terms of expenditure - what's your gut feel?

Out of interest, would you take it to an indie garage or the main dealer/specialist?

Try and look if you get any air on fuel lines, i would start there. Also you didn't mention if you get the mil light on. Good luck.
