might be a bit of a niche question! But does anyone know if a mounting depth of 52mm would be ok in a replacement speaker without modifying anything? this will be for the front of the door (inc tweeter)
Thinking of getting these JBL speakers.. (I'm not willing to spend MB-Quart money!)
Plan is add 2nd amp to drive front speakers, leave head-unit to drive rear (door) speakers and add a sub in the spare-wheel well.

(already have 10" sub and amp for that.. just building up the courage to rip the car apart to wire it all up!)

Nope, cant help you there mate, i did change the speaker grill on the passenger door today (awkward pain in the ar%se, let me know if you need details) but I have got the Harman speaker upgrade that someone else paid for before I bought the car.

I've read that getting at the speakers (removing the door cards etc) is an absolute PITA? :-(
Details would be helpful!! ta!

That IS quite a faff! Pretty sure that I don't have the airbag in the door though? So hopefully a slightly smaller faff :bannana:

It's easy peasy. Haven't looked at the video posted but they are very simple to remove and refit.

Oh yeah, mounting depth won't be a problem. I had some beefy door speakers in there and there was miles of clearance .
