CLK 430 Cabrio

Probably his mate has told him he can get more for it than the price you have agreed.

Doubt it'll go for £8.5k.

Beats me why he just didn't tell me he wants more for it then. :wallbash: I might have met him halfway. Not a chance now though!

Some people are just sly like that .

As you say , best avoided. The right one will be out there for you.

Looks nice.

Have you actually been to see it yet ?

If not make sure you check the usual CLK weak spots before you hand over any cash.

Make double sure the roof works 100% , do 3 or 4 cycles of it , as they are proper expensive to fix if they go wrong.

Make sure the rollover headrests go up and down as they should too.

I've left a refundable deposit.

So if it is not as described I won't be proceeding.

The car belongs to the owner of this dealership and he claims it is pristine in every sense of the word.

Here's the VIN WDBXXXXXXXXXXXX

It's a pretty good spec actually.

oooops....can a MOD please delete my post above. I don't think I should have posted the VIN!

Looks nice, good spec and colour combo

As Howard says though, check it out thoroughly, especially the roof etc. Not all warranties are the same and many won't cover some of the most expensive and common faults. They can be sometimes be shy in paying out and are often cleverly worded ;)

I'd also check:

- The number of keys. These are well over £200 each these days if you need a spare
- The LCD panels in the instrument cluster, especially the ones for the outside temperature and clock/gear indicator. The pixels tend to fail so make sure that they are all reading brightly and clearly.
- Make sure the air conditioning is blowing ice cold. Not just cool, but should be freezing on the lowest setting.
- Check for any rust, especially on all of the wheel arches and the boot lid. They often rust on the inner lips and the boot lid. Make sure that all of the arches are smooth and free from any blistering on the lips and check the boot lid carefully around the lock and underneath the plastic trim that sits above the numberplate
- Check the service history out. Has it had the spark plugs replaced at the correct interval (circa 60k miles). If not, budget for replacement - there's 16 of them and they aren't cheap (fair amount of parts and labour!)
- Make sure that the electric seats are working properly, including the memory functions and 'easy entry' setting. They should motorise forwards and backwards automatically to allow entry into the rear when the seat release is moved and the seat tilted, returning to the correct position afterwards.
- Make sure the cats aren't rattling under throttle - annoying and expensive to replace. Not sure if it's common on V8 CLKs though?

I'm sure it's going to be okay, but worth checking so that you know what your buying. 'Eyes open' as they say :thumb:

Only thing that I'm not keen on is the numberplate (is it staying on that registration number?) and are those wheels original?

Other than that - a fantastic looking V8 Mercedes cabriolet for fiesta money, and should have plenty of life left in it. Enjoy it whilst our weather holds  :)

Datacard lists it as having 17 inch AMG's from factory. Those look like reps.

Proper AMG 17's are cheap enough on Ebay , and someone else on Ebay will always take the reps off your hands .

Probably be able to change them effectively for very little outlay.

Still looks the business though , Azurite blue is a lovely colour.

Yep - good opportunity for a refurb on some genuine AMG rims and new tyres of your choice, the old reps will bring most of the money back :)

I'd think that the 18s on an Avantgarde cabriolet might be a little harsh on typical UK roads?
