CLK boot release not working from fob or console..

Apologies if this topic has been done to death, I've read through previous threads on other MB forums and found no definitive answer.

As title suggests, no response from button on key or switch on console. Luckily the key turns easily enough in the lock to release the boot manually. I've not had the car long, but when this was working there was very little springing when released, unlike my old C Class which used to take the back screen out.

Other foibles is the reverse dipping passenger wing mirror which has recently given up. Any ideas?? Car is a W208 CLK.

Thanks.

Is the boot lock keyhole slot in the vertical position or the horizontal position?
With the car fully unlocked, and when operated, will either the fob boot button or switch on console make the vacuum pump run for about 2 or 3 seconds?

Can’t help with the mirror problem.

Thanks for the reply Dec. Boot lock position is vertical and there is no air/vacuum noise emitted when either buttons are pressed. Nothing at all really!

Regarding the mirrors, see the American User Manual below, pages 47 and 46 and 45 and 76

See also , pages 29 to 40 particularly page 29 as it explains Selective Locking Mode and Global Locking Mode.

This fault comes up a lot, I have yet to see an explanation as to what the cause is and how it was resolved.

I take it that the doors and fuel flap are locking/unlocking ok and you are operating the counsel/fob switch/button for more than 1 second.

The fact that the vacuum pump doesn’t run when you operate the console switch or the remote boot open button points to the vacuum pump being faulty, however, the alarm system, if it were corrupt, could cause a fault in the vacuum pump in that it is preventing the boot from opening.
This is just a theory but a plausible explanation, particularly if your car alarm isn’t working properly. It would be worth testing your alarm as below.

-When you unlock with the remote the hazards should flash 1 time, alarm siren may or may not chirp.
-When you lock with the remote the hazards should flash 3 time, alarm siren may or may not chirp.
-Red light blinks on dash towing switch to show alarm is armed.
-Trigger the alarm by unlocking the driver’s door or boot with the metal key blade.
-As soon as you open the door or boot the alarm siren should sound for about 20 or 30 seconds and the hazards should flash for about 3 minutes.
-Unlocking the car with the remote unlock button will disarm the alarm, however let it run for the full 3 minutes after which it should stop and reset itself.

Thanks. Alarm still works as it should but still no joy with the boot, so the pump sounds likely. I'll get it down the local MB specialist.
