Does anyone know if the later CLK climate control unit (with digital display) is a straight swap / plug n play replacement for the one from a 2006 model?

I believe they are but it isn't just that panel. Have a look for killerhertz posts from when he had his CLK which he updated quite heavily

The 209 and 203 are closely related, I swapped the analogue control panel for the digital version. All plug and play but you don't get anything other than a cosmetic upgrade and possibly lower system hysteresis (in my experience).
One point worth mentioning, there are two possible part numbers for the replacement unit (at least wrt the 203) one will work the other won't. The only way to find out is try!

I had to look up "Hysteresis" But the definition from wikipedia really didn't help! lol
I'm aware that it would only be a cosmetic upgrade - but it was just a thought as I happened to see one on eBay.
