Hi. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to move the electric driver's seat in the wife's 2002 CLK 230 manually when the electrics fail. I still have the same problem that when you open the door, if the window doesn't drop a tad the seat won't work either. It has been suggested on different forums to remove the fuses in the boot for 5 minutes then replace them. Others have suggested disconnecting the battery overnight but will I get problems by doing this? It's so frustrating and I wish the seat had a lever and the window a winder. Easy. Anybody know a quick fix?

Are you sure your door control module isn't on the way out ? That's why your window won't drop on opening or your seat won't work.

Hi. I did get someone to look at that and it did work afterwards. I have a friend who runs an aftermarket BMW and Mercedes garage in the uk and he sent me the SAMS unit from under the fuse box in the engine compartment and again after it was changed it worked for a while. It seems that every time something is disturbed it works for a bit. Sometimes though it has done it on both seats and windows but not recently. Have tried to sell it here in France and had a guy really interested yesterday but he couldn't, like me, physically get in it because the wife at 5'2" normally drives it. The car drives like a dream if I could just sort this annoying problem out. Anyone know what a door module costs?

Yes £333.60 inc vat ,I bought one myself today and fitted it also bought some spare door panel clips incase of a breakage

Thanks for that. Looks like it will be a second hand one then. Did you have the same problem as me regarding the window and seat?
Regards Ade.

No mate car was fine most of the day, mrs picked her friends up and went to another friends house with windows down, arrived and couldn't get the window up run some checks myself fuses relays etc and got to the conclusion it was module , replaced it now all is fine, have you checked the wiring in the rubber boot where it passes from door shut to door? You might have a partially broken wire in there and that's free to check before you buy a module , if there is no break I think it would be door module, apparently it's quite common. Hope this helps

I will take the door card off today and have a look and a fiddle about. At least that way I will be able to get the number off the module. Shame, the car drives like an absolute dream but with the rust and aircon issues and this frustrating seat/window problem I just want to take a sledge hammer to it. There's only so much you want to spend on a £1000 car.
