Hi Everyone,

My dad nearly had an accident the other day because of some serious fault with this car :(.

Basically when driving at speeds like 40, 60, 70, 80 and 100 the car starts the wiggle left to right then stops and when you put your foot down again it starts to wiggle again left to right. This is continuous and happens every 5 minutes. I've been to 2 garages and they haven't got a clue what it is :(. They have even plugged in the computer and no luck.

ESP is not OFF
Just got the car serviced end of october.

Anyone here who can help me so I can get the part and repair this please.

I've wasted £150 for just getting it checked :(

I guess you've tried balancing the tyres?

A weight falling off one of the wheels will cause wibbling, as will a buckled wheel. Both will be shown up if you try to get the wheels balanced. Usually no more than £5 a wheel.

Get a proper geometry alignment done.....And get the tyres checked and wheels balanced.....

Thanks for the replies.

I've checked the tyres, rim. Not buckled. Balanced Fully. Not an alignment issue either.

I went to R.M Fensomes in Luton, UK. And they said a nut (bolt) is loose or missing and is causing the car the wiggle left and right :S. So they will have a look next wednesday.

Can a missing bolt even cause this? :S

Yes, if you have any missing wheel bolts it will cause this. I had one missing on an Audi i had and the wheel nearly shook itself off the car on the motorway!! Check them all and tighten to correct torque setting and replace the missing one, you dont need a garage to do that.....

I got it fixed :), the bolt was under the car (rear wheel) wishbone bolt was loose so the guy tightened it and that fixed the problem. Quite shocked a small thing like that made the whole car move left to right lol. Lucky it didn't cost me anything my friend fixed it for me :)

There is another issue now :(, when I put my foot down for acceleration it jerks and their is no acceleration power but if I drive normally without putting my foot down it runs fine arghhhh. (oil is fine, sparks have been changed, air filters fine, got new tyres) hmm...

But thanks alot guys for your input and help :)

Gearbox oil may be low. Get the level checked.

If the gearbox has never been serviced I would get the oil and filter changed as soon as.

Just a thought- if it wobbles at 40, why do 80 or 100? It seems a little foolish to me.
