Anyone know how the heated exterior mirrors should operate on my CLK 280 please?
My off side mirror always seems warm (when car running) though I thought operation dependant on activating heated rear screen?
By contrast near side mirror seems much cooler.
Also noticed that mirror (again driver side) seems to vibrate at high speeds though seems coorectly fitted in mirror casing. Any thoughts folks?

W209 Driver side door mirror.

Been into MB today who inform me that the heated mirrors should heat up when car running, dismissing my theory they are powered in conjunction with the heated rear screen. MB therefore saying mirrors will heat up regardless of temperature outside/driving conditions??
Does this sound correct folks?
On a further note thet advise that the driver side mirror (apparently has anti glare?) will heat up more/faster too.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I not utterly convinced by the dealers response- sceptic I know.

Not sure about the heated mirrors on a merc but the heated mirrors on my various BMW only heated below a certain outside temperature about 6degs C??)....they came on automatically. I am fairly sure the same system is used on my merc.

They are automatic on my 202 c-class, one start-up in the winter, if there was ice on the mirror it would quickly melt it off. Its not dependant on you switching anything on, i think it may dependant on the weather conditions however.

They are switched on automatically below a set temperature.

Any thoughts on the anti glare mirror (this on driver side and in appearance terms is slightly different to the passenger side- has black plastic edge around it)
